Mikayla is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist for Individuals (CCTS-I). Mikayla earned her Master of Counseling at Arizona State University in May 2020 and Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Grand Canyon University in April 2018.

Mikayla invites clients to come as they are to start their journey of healing and empowerment. She uses a whole-person approach to support mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Mikayla believes the client to be the expert of their story and she acts as an equal partner to join with clients in collaborating on personal goals where clients can pursue their greatest potential. This is cultivated in a space of safety and acceptance, where clients can feel equally supported and challenged. Mikayla’s professional experience includes conducting individual, family, and group counseling in community behavioral health, coordinating with multifaceted Child Family Teams and state agencies DCS and DDD, with a focus on the entire family system. Mikayla also gained a particular emphasis working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum and their families.

Mikayla grounds her practice on person-centered therapy: extending unconditional positive regard, genuineness, and empathic understanding. Evidence-based interventions commonly used include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), solution-focused, strength-based, and mindfulness interventions, all coming from a trauma-informed lens.

Mikayla is an Arizona native, married to a first responder, and is a dog mom of two.
