LAUREN MEHR MS, LPC
Lauren is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Born and raised on the east coast, Lauren moved to Arizona in 2017 after being recruited by The Meadows workshop team. After working at the workshops for a year, she transferred to The Meadows Ranch to work with a population she is passionate about- eating disorders and trauma . Prior to her time at The Meadows, she was a workshop therapist for Breakthrough at Caron. Lauren earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Philosophy at the University of Scranton after which she attended Medical school. Her time in medical school helped her realize that true healing requires connection between mind, body, and soul. Feeling drawn to a different type of healing, Lauren then chose to change her career path and graduated from Chestnut Hill College with a master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology and a concentration in trauma studies. During this time, she discovered the power of experiential methods and actively sought training to gain the skills to incorporate these techniques in her professional life. During her internship at a community mental health clinic in Southwest Philly she designed and ran an experiential empowerment group for teenage girls to help them learn to use their voice to create positive changes in their lives.
Lauren is a certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). She is Level 1 certified in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Additionally, she has completed S.A.F.E EMDR training (somatic and attachment focused) through the Personal Transformation Institute. As a lifelong lover of learning, Lauren has received extensive training in psychodrama, dialectical behavioral therapy, TF-CBT, TANT (Trauma Art Narrative Therapy), NARM, internal family systems as well as other trauma- focused therapies. She has presented at the American Society for Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama (ASGPP) and the national Internal Family Systems conference.
She is passionate about creating a safe environment to promote the healing of painful past experiences and trauma. Lauren has extensive work experience facilitating experiential group therapy and workshops. Her areas of specialty are sexual abuse, covert abuse both sexual and emotional, eating disorders and somatic therapy. Lauren considers herself a "Trauma Nerd" and has sought extensive training from various experts in the field. Her passion for trauma treatment led her to combining neuroscience, somatic and experiential techniques in her work with clients as she helps them learn that they are their own best healers.
